There is no need to lose your troubled tooth.
Endodontics (often referred to as Root Canal Therapy) is the area of dentistry dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders of the dental pulp. This treatment is designed to save diseased or injured teeth.
If a tooth’s pulp (nerve and blood supply) becomes infected or inflamed, Root Canal treatment may be necessary to save the tooth. The most common cause of pulp damage is deep tooth decay which causes irritation and bacteria to begin growing within the tooth.
Root Canal treatment consists of removing the nerve that lies within the root of the tooth. A sedative dressing will be placed inside your tooth between each visit to help settle the surrounding tissues and destroy remaining bacteria. If a Root Canal is not performed, eventually bacteria will destroy the pulp. The bone structure around the tooth will then become infected and will inevitably lead to tooth loss.
To determine if Root Canal Treatment is necessary x-rays would be taken at your dental consultation. After which point a series of appointments would be assigned to you for your Root Canal Treatment.
